Guardians of the Time portals
Guardians of the Time Portals is a multimedia installation and fictional archive by Prague-based illustrator, printmaker and multimedia artist Vera Koss.
The project consists of thirteen A3 linocut prints, guide-zines, artifacts and additional graphic materials that together document the existence of mysterious beings known as Guardians of the Time Portals. Existing somewhere between mythological creatures, living systems and unstable energies, the guardians protect invisible passages between different layers of reality.
The work expands Vera Koss’ long-term interest in graphic storytelling, world-building and tactile experimentation. Working across illustration, zines, printmaking and narrative systems, she often creates fictional ecosystems that exist somewhere between memory, spirituality and speculative futures.
Within the installation, transparency becomes an important visual principle. Tracing paper and stretched transparent surfaces suggest unstable borders between dimensions and the porous nature of time itself. Visitors encounter traces rather than direct representations: movement remains visible through fragments, imprints and captured evidence.
Linocut plays a conceptual role within the work. Because each print changes slightly during the printing process, the guardians never appear in a fixed form. Their identities remain fluid, unstable and continuously transforming.

THE PROJECT CONSISTS OF 13 POSTERS -- THE ICONS OF EVERCHANGING GUARDIANS OF TIME, GUIDE IN 6 ZINES, DESCRIBING THE CONCEPT OF THE TIME PORTALS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THE GUARDIANS, RELICS OF THE OBJECTS AND ADDITIONAL GRAPHICAL MATERIALS, SUCH AS REPRESENTATIONS OF THE PORTALS, PORTALS IN ACTION, ILLUSTRATIONS AND ESSENCE OF THE GUARDIANS, CAPTURES OF THE GUARDIANS' TRAILS.
